Teenage Kicks now better value!

Every cloud has a silver lining… The Public Libraries’ Section is delighted to announce that in the light of our recessionary times we’ve negotiated lower accommodation rates with the Heritage Hotel for the Public Libraries’ Section Annual Conference.

All rates have been reduced with the all-in-rate (accommodation plus meals) coming down from €355 to €310 for a single room and from €295 to €250 sharing. Wednesday-night-only and Thursday-night-only rates have also been reduced. We are delighted to be able to pass on these discounts to conference delegates. Don’t worry if you have already booked, as you will be invoiced automatically for the reduced rate.

The Programme and revised Booking Form for Teenage Kicks is available here.

We have a great line-up for this year’s conference, including authors Claire Hennessy and Oisín McGann, television psychologist and author David Coleman, and sessions on Cork City Library’s Teen Survey, the Junior Certificate Support Programme’s Demonstration Library Project, and Dublin City’s Teen Zones Project. We’ll have a quickfire session in which four library services will tell us about their projects or initiatives aimed at teenagers. We are delighted to announce that our after dinner speaker on Thursday 6th November will be John McNamee of Easons, President of the European Booksellers’ Federation. There will also be the opportunity for delegates to visit two new state of the art Laois County Libraries, Mountrath and Abbeyleix, on Thursday afternoon.

It will be a jam-packed and exciting Conference this year, we look forward to seeing you there!
